Berlin has several hectares of land for potential unsealing. The design takes the promenade on the banks of the Spree at the main railway station as an exemplary location.

Some of the paving stones will be removed to create potential areas for nature. Structures ("grottos") are built from the stones to create more qualitative areas for people, animals and plants.

The design is underpinned by research into natural drainage, Berlin's biodiversity and the recyclability of the paving material.
